Atrocious growing conditions and one of the worst summers in memory failed to deter entrants in this years show

There were 65 classes in competitions with something for everyone to try for, including best fruit and vegetable classes, painting, tapestry, natural wood sculpture, photography and cut flowers. The village hall was filled with colourfully laden tables groaning with produce. Children's categories included a collage , pictures of the pirates and islands, greeks and coasts as well as a category for a painted pebble. The open floral exhibits competition included a prize for the 150th anniversary of Sir Edward Elgar.

• Jean Ayres for the Cracroft Challenge Cup for the best flower other than roses.

• Richard Seebohm- The Flower Arranger Trophy.
• Joan Allen - Knightsmith Trophy (preserves)
• Ann Read - The Mallinson Cup for handicraft.
• Jean Ayres - for the Photography Cup.
• Wendy Hart - The Millennium Trophy for the best art exhibit.
